Environmental Programs
Electric cooperatives serve the counties all over South Carolina, and we are owned by the people we serve. Therefore, we feel responsible for protecting and preserving the beauty and ecology of our state. To that end, Palmetto Electric Cooperative sponsors and supports several programs that are designed to protect and preserve our environment.

Lights Out For Sea Turtles - Palmetto Electric supports Lights Out For Sea Turtles, a program designed to protect the nesting areas for the loggerhead sea turtles.
Osprey Habitats - Palmetto Electric is also concerned with the preservation of endangered ospreys by constructing platforms for the nests within the Lowcountry.
Adopt-A-Highway - Palmetto Electric employees have worked with Adopt-A-Highway in both Jasper and Beaufort counties since 1992 to help preserve our Lowcountry landscape.
Energy Star Transformers - Palmetto Electric is using high-efficiency distribution transformers within its system through the Environmental Protection Agency's ENERGY STAR Transformer Program.
