Palmetto Electric given "South Carolina On The Move" Award
 
U.S. Senator Jim DeMint While in Sun City to hold an Energy Independence Town Hall, U.S. Senator Jim DeMint also presented a South Carolina on the Move Award to Palmetto Electric Cooperative for 68 years of service to South Carolina's Lowcountry.
 
 
Co-op expects 13-15% increase in power costs for remainder of 2008-2009
 
Palmetto Electric and 19 other South Carolina co-ops received news of the impending increase in July from their power suppler, Central Electric Power Cooperative in Columbia. Central purchases wholesale electricity on behalf of 20 independent, consumer-owned electric distribution cooperatives around the state.
